13 Minutes

I have left thirteen minutes to write this post and I have not got a topic. You're probably not surprised, as this happens about once a month. But instead of insulting all my readers like I did last time (I'm much too tired for that right now) I'm going to give you a needless and dull update of my life. This week will be the last week of the school I've gone to for the last five years. That might seem like a significant event and don't get me wrong it's quite significant to me, I just don't really think you care. It's not an exciting thing, it's not very interesting and it hardly gives you a taste of my take on life, which I think is what my blog is supposed to do. So I'm not going to go into any detail about this mundane event in my life, instead I'm going to burn some time trying to think of how to finish this sentence. I just spent a minute looking at "instead I'm going to" without knowing what to write. And really, isn't that a metaphor for life? We know we're supposed to do something but we can't work out what it is. Okay, that's not really a metaphor for life, that's just some rubbish I decided to write to make it look like I at least thought about this a little bit. It's been twelve minutes, so until next week, goodbye.

Quantum physics, perhaps

So, once again I have forgotten to come up with a good subject for a post in time. Also, my computer was half dead, so that didn't help. But with ten minutes on the clock, let's see if I can throw something together.
Recently I've been watching lectures by Nobel prize winning physicist Richard Feynman. I strongly advise you to watch them, but you probably won't. Anyway, I've decided to use this space to write about my fascination with quantum physics. You see, as a child I got to the point in thinking that, despite chaos theory (in a way because of it), everything could hypothetically be predicated if you knew everything about it and had a large enough computer. If you hit a ball, you could work out exactly where it will go. So, applying this thinking to a larger scale, you would be able to find out exactly what would happen to the universe if you knew the position and movement of every atom. This is known as determinism.
Then I discovered quantum physics. Basically, what was once a nice ordered world turns out to be completely random when you look incredibly closely. The universe is random. And no one knows why. A photon reflected off a piece of glass has about a one in twenty five chance of reflecting. For no known reason. What's more, if you put a second piece of glass beneath it the chance of that photon reflecting anywhere changes. And they're not really sure why. They are at a point where they know more from maths than science. How can anyone not be fascinated by that?
Okay, that's my time, I'd go on more, but can't. Watch the lectures. Bye.

Incoherent post of the week

Hello gentle readers. And I guess non-gentle readers. In fact more so, as it's those that are more likely to hurt me if I don't say hello, what with them not being gentle and all.
Anyway, I kind of forgot to come up with a topic for this week's post, so I'm writing without one. It's 24 to midnight, which is my self-imposed dead-line.
So, how are you? Good? Good.
I'm brilliant at small talk. I could also talk about philosophy if you'd rather I do that. For example, I've recently been spending a lot of time thinking about the importance of aesthetics to the universe and how a separate, aesthetically driven universe could function. Of course there is more to it than that, but that's the basic idea.
How about we talk sport? Did you happen to catch that [POPULAR SPORTING EVENT] last night? [TEAM/PLAYER YOU SUPPORT] were/was robbed.
So, interesting weather we're having lately on the internet huh? Though I guess any weather on the internet is interesting.
It has been requested I write about Eystein Bærug. He was a Norwegian politician for the liberal party and was alive from 29 March 1923 – 1 September 1998. You now can't say you haven't learnt anything from this week's post.
And now for a photo of Olivia Wilde:

Goodbye.
