I don't think I'm going to achieve all 10 chapters..the posts might end in a 'half of Algar in Wonderland in 30 seconds' type affair. However, I can only but try..
Chapter 5 -The Caterpillar's Advice
The Caterpillar and Algar looked at each other for a while.
'Who are you?' the Caterpillar finally asked in a sleepy, spaced-out voice. The Caterpillar seemed to be smoking a pipe. Algar wasn't sure what the contents of this pipe was, but he liked the look of it. Every time the Caterpillar exhaled, clouds of colourful smoke filled the air, giving him and his mushroom a very 60's look. This was entertaining Algar very much indeed. After pondering all of these things, Algar replied to the Caterpillar. 'Well I thought I was Algar..but god knows now. It wouldn't surprise me if I've miraculously turned into someone else, it would appear that it wouldn't be the strangest happening of the day'.
'What do you mean?' demanded the Caterpillar. 'Explain yourself!'
'Calm out, there's no need to be rude. I don't think I can explain myself, unfortunately. If I was feeling like Algar, then maybe I would be able to, but this place has given me some bloody weird side effects. I don't feel like I am myself'.
'Try reciting a poem,' ordered the Caterpillar. Clearing his throat, Algar began.
There once was a man from Bordeaux
Whose hair was as white as the snow
He bought a new Mac
Gave his a PC a whack
And seriously injured his toe
'Wrong from beginning to end!' said the Caterpillar. 'It didn't make any sense, you are awful at this poetry business.' He paused. 'What size do you want to be?'
'Larger than this, I'm far too short, why can't everything just be normal sized in this god damn place?.' Algar replied. 'It really is the worst size imaginable.'
'Excuse me?' said the Caterpillar, who was exactly the same height as Algar. 'It's a very good height indeed!'
He slid off the mushroom angrily. 'One side makes you taller, the other makes you shorter' he remarked, as he crawled away.
'What the hell is he talking about?! One side of what?' Algar muttered to himself. 'Ohh, the mushroom, I get it.' He broke off two pieces and nibbled one, then the other, until he was back to his desired height.
Algar continued through the forest until he came to a little house.
'As much as I don't care, I don't really want to make a scene of myself, I'd better eat some more of that mushroom so I can shrink myself to their size' he said. With that, he chewed off a bit more of the mushroom, and shrank down to the ground again.
Chapter 6 is called Pig and Pepper..I can't remember what happens in this chapter, but I'd better hurry up and read it because the book needs to go back to the library. This is most likely to result in what I mentioned at the beginning of the post, oops a daisy, I probably shouldn't have tempted fate. Sorry Algar :)
