There is a common misconception that being really smart implies not being a complete idiot. This is not the case as there are plenty of very intelligent people who are also painfully stupid. In fact it often thought that people who are particularly smart frequently lack basic common sense. I am informed by my brother who has a degree in Early Childhood Studies (yeah, apparently that's a thing) that smart people don't develop common sense due to differences in problem solving when they are young. After discussing this we agreed it didn't actually make sense as it seemed to be based on the logic "when smart children have a problem they can solve it, so they don't need to learn how to solve it." So it's probably actually a variation on this explanation. But it's probably not important really.
I forget the point of this post, I just like to remind myself that people who are smarter than me are stupid. It makes me feel better. I really need to stop doing these rubbish posts.
