Misletoe and wine. Well, wine.

It's currently ten minutes to midnight on Christmas Eve so I might seem a little rushed. Not that I have any reason to be, it's not like I'll suddenly lose the ability to write come Christmas day. Hell, it's not like I even have the ability to write well now.
But yeah, Christmas. Christmas is, for the most part, good. I'm pro-Christmas, though not in a religious way, I just quite like it. The thing is, I only quite like it. You see, as great as Christmas is, it's never as great as we think it should be. (Oh, it's now Christmas, so that's nice) We bill it as definitively the best day of the year, which is in many cases probably accurate, but it's still a high bar. And what's more is we know there's a disappointment  coming at the end of it when we look back and think "That wasn't too bad.", we just can't really say that we know that is coming. It's socially acceptable to love Christmas and it's somewhat acceptable to hate it, it's just not really acceptable to enjoy it quite a bit. Which I think is what my point is.
Anyway, merry Christmas. Actually, why are you reading my post on Christmas day? That's a little non-jolly, isn't it? Do you all huddle around to read Algar's annual Christmas speech? Get out and merry it up a bit.
If, however, you are reading this after Christmas, which is somewhat more likely, merry regular day. Is it acceptable to be merry on other days? It's okay to be jolly I think, but merry is only acceptable after eating and drinking. So, have a jolly regular day. But now it just sounds like I'm saying have a very regular day, which isn't what I'm going for. So, urm, have a nice day. Though I'm not sure nice really expresses how good it should be. Of course I want you to have a nice day, it's just when wishing good fortune on someone there should be an element of hyperbole, so if I wish for just a nice day for you, really I'm just wishing for a marginally adequate day. So have a wonderful day. Is that okay? Good.

Saturday post

I'm posting a day early as I am going on holiday tomorrow (which is actually today) and I won't have the internet. Unfortunately I haven't actually come up with a topic for this post and seeing as it's 20 past midnight and I am yet to pack, I might not bother to come up with one.
But before I write about nothing, I would like to announce a sad passing. Some of you might remember last week's post about my finger nail. Well, since then the end of my nail has broken off. It's tragic really. I guess the moral of this tale is that if I blog about something it will break off, which is an excellent reason for me to not post about more 'personal' body parts.
So, onto the post.

Yep, I'm going to start right now.

Any second now...

Isn't it a nice day out? Why are you spending your time online when you could be frolicking through the hills or fields?  Go out, the internet will still be here when you get back.

No, it's not just that I can't be bothered to write a post.

Anyway, I'll be back next week and hopefully you will be too.
