So summer has finished. You may remember me writing a post at the beginning of summer, which went a little something like this.
So what have I accomplished this summer? Well I went 61 hours without sleep, followed by 27 hours with just sleep, I got my GCSE results and I wrote about shoelaces (which, by the way, lead to a response from the worlds' leading expert on the subject, Ian Fieggen. Contrary to the impression you might have got from my post, Ian actually seems like a pretty cool guy. If you do need any information about shoelaces then his website is the definitive resource on the subject. Anyway, I'll move on now, before I start seeming creepy.)
Anyway, I basically did nothing with my summer, as I expected. You might notice that I'm posting this on Saturday instead of Sunday. The reason for this is that I don't want to have to be doing my blog tomorrow night as I have English coursework due in on Monday. Yes, I've done so little these last six weeks that I haven't even managed to start work on my coursework. I hope my English teacher doesn't read my blog (it seems unlikely that she does.). It shouldn't be hard though, I've only got to write about 6 pages on some poems that I mostly haven't read. But when I put my mind to something like this, it shouldn't take me too long. Though it has taken me nearly an hour to write this post so far.
Wow, that was a bit of a pointless ramble, wasn't it?
What I have done is watch the first season of How I Met Your Mother about 5 times. Of course I don't like it, much too produced and American sit-comy for me. *cough*
On the social side of things, I failed to do almost anything social. In total I did one thing which could definitely be considered social. I haven't had a proper conversation with anyone outside of my family for over two weeks. Though I did talk to someone since then, in a a "Hi, how have you been?" "Fine" capacity. This was at a small, one day music festival, which is something else I did. I went.
So that was my summer, at least most of it. Now school again.
Also, did anyone else find this post really boring? I hate personal blogs. Hopefully I'll have a more interesting blog post up next week.

Social skills
I like socialising. From hanging out in a field, to getting drunk at a party, to discussing the significance of the Socratic method in modern society, I enjoy the company of others.
It's just difficult. When I don't know how people will respond, I become very aware of myself and constantly feel awkward, as though my actions could offend anyone at any time.
And it's not just me. Social phobia is the second most common phobia, after arachnophobia. The thing is, people suck with people. When they're not completely comfortable around someone new, they forget how they're supposed to behave. We start impersonating human beings. Which shouldn't be too hard, we see them all the time in films and on T.V.
The only real difference between aspies and N.T.s in socialising is that N.T.s do better impressions of being human.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, your social skills suck.
This post made much more sense in my head. The original plan was to write something light about autism, but it seems to have ended up with me insulting the social skills of all people. And if my web counter is to be believed, people make up a large section of my readership.
Anyway, if you don't feel too insulted by me pointing out your lack of social skills, leave a comment with your thoughts. And if you do feel insulted, leave a comment with your thoughts. Or click one of the sharing buttons below, so your friends get to feel insulted too. Everyone likes sharing, and everyone loves people who share. And want to have their babies. Seriously, not sharing would just be dumb. Just press a couple of buttons and an infinite supply of happiness could be yours! What are you waiting for?
(How's that for some reader involvement?)

Summer
My summer has finally begun. This is somewhat bitter-sweet, as although I don't really enjoy school much, it is at least something to do. As I might have mentioned at some point (like, in every post), I don't really have a social life and as such spend virtually all my free time on the computer. Actually that might be part of the reason that I have no social life. So summer is more or less 6 weeks of nothing to me, except for the complete collapse of any sort of regular sleeping patterns.
I will probably sometimes stay up throughout the night then go for a walk to watch the sun rise. That's probably the most interesting thing I'll do. Also it gives the image of a night poet, separate from society, seeing the universe in a different light. Chicks dig that.
During the summer I might start writing a semi-fictionalised web comic of my life. As it will be part blog, part comic it will be named like a vlog (part blog, part video). So it will be a clog.
However my inability to draw might be a problem here, but we'll see.
In an attempt to make the most of my summer I requested suggestions for how to spend it, but the only, and therefore best by default, suggestion was (unedited, by the way) "BIG BOOTY BITCHES BIG BIG BOOTY BITCHES WE DON'T WANT NO SKINNY BITCHES WE WANT BIG BOOTY BITCHES", which I will attempt to implement immediately.
Apart from that my summer is pretty much empty, save for a couple of events.
Also, do I come across as really British in my blog?

Value of time
My time is worthless. I mean really worthless. I have no social life and little work to do, so my time has no value. I can do whatever I please with my time without having schedule conflicts, as I have no schedule. Of course, lacking a social life there isn't much I want to do with my time, so I end up engaging in utterly pointless pursuits without ever wondering if there is something better I could be doing with my time.
For example, during this week I have attempted to get from Land's End to John O' Groats using google streetview. So far I think I've got about 150 miles in, of 837. I also spent a few hours watching surgery, often with the music of leekspin playing. I have nothing worthwhile to do with my time. I also spend a fair amount of time thinking about how worthless my time is. Or imagining what it would be like to have a social life. Of course it does mean that if I do get invited to a social function I know I'm free.
However, this is yet to happen.
I round off this post with a brief explanation of what shall be happening on my blog for the next few weeks. As I mentioned last week I have a guest blogger on and she will be doing the posts while I am away for the Easter holidays. Her idea is somewhat insane, as it should be, and will be posted in 7 or 8 parts, over the same number of weeks. I will not be posting anything for the next 3 weeks, but after that I will probably post both the post by my guest and a post I will write myself. The guest shall be Livvy, as I don't know many other people. Seeing as she can fit in enough time to write 8 posts for someone else's blog it is possible her time is worth even less than mine.

My social afterlife
You may have noticed that I haven't updated my blog recently. There is an equal chance that you had completely forgotten about my blog and were reminded by a facebook update or such like. Either way you can rest assured that I had a good reason for not doing it. I couldn't be bothered. As a reward for sticking with the blog for its two month hiatus I might turn this post into a series of posts.
Anyway, this post is about my social life. Or rather, lack of social life.
You see, as hard as it is to believe, I don't have many friends. Even harder to believe, it's not because of my personality. Well, mostly not.
It's mostly because of my school situation. My class has a total of 6 people including me. Out of the 6 only one of them is a neuro-typical (non-autistic) and to be honest that's been called into question recently. I also do no extra-curricular activities where I'm likely to meet people. So I'm left with a situation where I don't actually talk to any "normals". In fact, I've kind of forgotten what normal people are like.
So this has left me with a rather dismal social life. Which is where the series of posts come in. I will be attempting to get a social life using a variety of methods, varying from the ordinary to the insane, and all the time I will continue to post updates on my progress. Any suggestions for how to further my social life, or just for blog posts in general, would be much appreciated.
